The Division of Surgery at The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) provides the full spectrum of paediatric surgical services for infants, children and adolescents.

In 2019 16,761 children underwent surgery at the RCH. All of whom were cared for within the RCH perioperative department – a self contained unit caring for children of all ages requiring elective or emergency surgery. The perioperative department also treats existing inpatients who require surgery, and those who are having day stay surgery with the aim to be discharged in the same day.
